Job Summary/Description:
KMOV's Content Producer manages the daily flow of news to the newsroom for appropriate coverage both on-air and on the Station's digital platforms. This position works to ensure digital content is up-to-the minute, attention grabbing, informative, accurate, impactful and relevant to a variety of users.
Duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
* The Content Producer (CP) is responsible for creating content that is aligned with the station brand. The CP is also responsible for writing, editing & publishing content on multiple digital platforms, including mobile, online, and social networks.
* The CP is tasked with discovering and verifying content on social media, police/fire scanners, and via phone or email tips. They dispatch reporters and photographers to cover news events.
* The CP works closely with newscast teams and managers to coordinate coverage plans and ensure leadership in breaking news.
Qualifications/Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or Communications, or equivalent training and/or experience.
* Minimum two years experience in a newsroom environment, producing newscasts or digital platforms, or working on an assignment desk.
* Experience with Edius, i-news, internet production tools, MS Office
* Exceptional news judgment and organizational skills - must be able to multi-task in high-pressure, deadline driven situations.
* Ability to select stories for reporting and effectively coordinate coverage with newsroom staff and the public.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively with others.
* Ability to interact promptly, productively, and positively with fellow employees and all levels of management.
* Self-starter, strong work ethic, and dependable.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule.
