Job Summary/Description:

KGMB (CBS), KHNL (NBC) and K5 is seeking an Assignment Editor. Hawaii News Now is the state's dominant multimedia news organization. The successful candidate must be dynamic, experienced, and aggressive to oversee our evening newsgathering operations and complement our talented team of journalists. The ideal candidate loves news, has strong news judgement and can juggle multiple tasks simultaneously. This person must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. A sense of urgency and the ability to make clear and confident decisions is critical. Communicating those decisions is crucial. There will be daily digital assignments to contribute to our various digital platforms.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Oversee newsgathering (this includes developing story ideas, confirming information, and curating reliable news sources).
*Plan evening news coverage across multiple platforms. Work with producers to help manage newsroom resources and logistics.
* Work with the Assistant News Director on daily, next day and long-range coverage plans.
* Create and publish content to digital and social media platforms.
* Monitor social media and news tips to check Breaking News.
* Effectively communicate with news team.

Qualifications/Requirements:
* Sound news judgment
* Refined communication skills
* Experience with ENPS and Edius is a plus
* Excellent time management
* Working understanding of social media platforms
* Basic and investigative news-gathering skills
* Understanding of video and still photography and editing a plus
* Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field is preferred, equivalent experience considered
* Experience as a producer, photographer, or reporter/MMJ preferred
