About KGNS:

KGNS-TV is located in Laredo, TX which sits along the Rio Grande bordering Mexico. Our news department which includes English and Spanish news products, produces six hours of news Monday through Friday and six hours of news on the weekend. Because of the type of news stories that come out of Laredo, we have always been described as a small market with big market news.

Job Summary/Description:

The successful candidate will have the best of both worlds by producing and anchoring the sports segment for our weekend newscasts and reporting for news three days of the week. During heavy sports seasons, such as high school football or other peak sports times, this individual will shift into sports mode to help our sports director with sports coverage. KGNS also televises live high school football, so this individual should also be comfortable with play by play and color commentary.
The successful candidate should be outgoing, energetic, a solid writer and storyteller, know how to shoot and edit, and have a passion for both news and sports. They should be able to switch between news and sports and adapt to different situations. But the biggest attribute that the successful candidate should have is the ability to enterprise daily story ideas and know how produce an interesting, accurate, and informative news package. Experience doing live shots is a plus.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Covering and reporting on daily news stories while working news. Including enterprising, and producing a daily package.
• Producing and anchoring sports cast for Saturday and Sunday newscast and reporting on sporting events and sports features as needed.
• This position requires possibly working nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent writer and storyteller with solid news judgment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Determining content and flow of sports segments, shows, and specials.
• Experience operating digital cameras and nonlinear editors
• You must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record
