Job Summary/Description:
KGNS News is seeking a multimedia journalist/reporter to help bring the stories that matter to Laredoans into their homes and onto our digital platforms. This is a full-time, on-air news reporting position working directly under the News Director and Anchors with producers, and, occasionally, a photographer. You'll learn the ropes from an experienced team and tell stories that air in the market's top-rated newscasts, as well as contribute your material to our digital platforms.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Reporting
- Shooting
- Video editing
- Newswriting (both digital and broadcast)
- Finding and telling compelling stories
- Maintaining assigned beats
- Writing and posting multimedia-rich digital news stories
- Updating personal, as well as occasionally, the station's social media accounts on local news items
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Ability to shoot and edit video, write scripts, and effectively communicate live on-air
- Flexibility in scheduling, to respond to the changing news landscape
- A degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Valid Driver's License with good driving record. Employment is contingent on a pre-employment motor vehicle background check
