Station Manager / Sr. Dir. Sales, KERO

The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring a Station Manager/Sr. Dir. Sales for our station KERO in Bakersfield, CA. This role will report into and collaborate with the Regional VP/GM to oversee local market operations and execute local media strategic initiatives in the station. In this role you oversee department head leaders and manage day-to-day operations of the station while serving as a functional leader in your own area of expertise.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Station Manager:
• Lead and implement the local media strategic plan, including the content & brand strategy, for assigned station.
• Act as co-leader in generating ratings and revenue, including developing strategic plans and operational plans for the station's growth in multi-platform content delivery and revenue generation.
• In partnership with the Regional VP/GM, support development of and ensure responsible financial stewardship to the station operating and capital expense budgets.

Sr Director, Sales:
• Create sales budgets, project/forecast weekly station revenue so that annual revenue targets are achieved.
• Manage all broadcast and digital inventory, set and adjust station rates to maximize revenue.
• Manage the sale of advertising time to clients/agencies, involving local travel and national travel.
• Meet with clients, advertisers and community organizations to maintain high visibility in the market.
• Proactively create and manage enterprise or local station initiatives and new business projects.
• Understand and interface with traffic system and personnel to efficiently manage airtime inventory. Approve all orders.
• Supervise and provide regular feedback and training for direct reports with ultimate responsibility for all sales personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience required.
• Track record of proven leadership success in team effectiveness, audience or revenue growth, and budget management required.
• Generally, 5+ years of experience in a senior management position preferred.
• Generally, 10+ years proven success in media sales.
• Inventory, pricing, political advertising/guidelines experience required.
• Experience in agency and direct strategic account management, broadcast inventory and digital/video capabilities required.
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.
• Availability for some travel.

COMPENSATION RANGE:
Annual Salary: $165,000.00 - 185000

Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in California.
