KCRG-TV9 is the ABC affiliate based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with bureaus in Dubuque and Iowa City covering all of Eastern Iowa. We are dedicated to being a part of our community and sharing the stories of the people of Eastern Iowa. We produce 6 hours of news everyday, as well as support a robust website and the largest social media audience in the market.

Job Summary/Description:

KCRG-TV9 is seeking a special events coordinator to join our team. This person will be responsible for coordinating station and staff involvement and outreach to the community. This person will work primarily with our Show You Care program, facilitating sponsored programs like Coats for Kids, 9 Who Care volunteer awards and promoting non-profit events across Eastern Iowa. You will also work with staff on public appearances to promote the station and planning special station events like annual banquets. This position requires strong planning and organizational skills as well as someone who enjoys working with people to help the community.

Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Special event coordination and planning
- Project management of community outreach programs
- Communicating and coordinating staff participation in events and outreach
- Communicating and working with sponsors
- Promoting special events
- Planning and organization of annual programs and events
- Working with sale team to develop sponsorships
- General community outreach and engagement on behalf of the station
- Some physical labor for set-up and tear down of events

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Extremely strong organizational and planning skills
- Extremely strong communication skills
- Previous event planning a plus
- Collaborative, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to work quickly under deadline pressure
- Desire to help and support the local community
- Knowledge of broadcast television and digital platforms
- Flexibility to work occasional nights or weekends on events
