Job Summary/Description:

The Director of Podcasting will oversee the development and execution of digital content for KBTX's digital properties. In addition, they'll serve as one of the daily faces behind News 3 Now, our over-the-top live news product.

This position requires a person with a digital-first mindset who can work independently and has great time management skills. The Director of Podcasting will oversee the development and execution of digital content for KBTX's digital properties. In addition, they'll serve as one of the daily faces behind News 3 Now, our over-the-top live news product.

In this role, you'll help lead a culture focused on allowing people to achieve their goals, supporting innovative ideas and championing curiosity. More importantly, you'll help build a burgeoning digital brand with the support of a dominant, legacy newsroom in a rapidly growing market.

KBTX is seeking an experienced journalist with a strong ability to build and lead teams, manage content, and communicate across dayparts with a focus on driving engagement. We want someone with strong reporting skills who has a passion for digital storytelling. The right person for this job is proficient at and has a true passion for every side of digital reporting.
You will report to the station's Director of Digital Content and have an active role in determining digital strategy and newsroom storytelling goals.

What you'll do:
• Anchor and assist in the production of a daily, over-the-top news program focused on making the news accessible to viewers outside of the standard broadcast window
• Generate and evaluate new digital journalism concepts with a focus on audience growth
• Guide production of digital content from concept to publication, working closely with team members tasked with content creation and serving as lead story editor, including fact-checking and legal review
• Coach producers and hosts to challenge themselves creatively and journalistically
• Write and develop stories for the web and other digital platforms
• Syndicate content on social media platforms with a focus on subscriber growth and engagement
• Set content goals and lead team members to meet them

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
• At least two years of newsroom experience, preferably in a senior storytelling role with a proven track record of guiding the narrative process.
• Strong understanding of podcasting and narrative structure, with a proven record of high-quality storytelling.
• Hands on experience writing, reporting, producing, and publishing long-form content.
• A proven track record of managing multiple projects at once while effectively growing and mentoring peers.
• Excellent writing skills and journalistic integrity
• Knowledge of digital analytics, marketing, and SEO
