Job Description
Job Title: Manager - Communications

Job Summary: In this role of Manager-Communications, you will be responsible for developing and building relationships and managing communication with journalists, influencers, and business partners. This job includes researching ways to better the brand reputation and connect with the community in unique and ever-changing ways. In addition, to the Kansas City Royals, this role will also assist with media requests and the needs of those at the Urban Youth Academy.

Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
• Assists in developing comprehensive, research-based public relations plans that identify key community stakeholders and outline specific activities for the purpose of continually improving communications
• Writes press and media releases for the purpose of providing accurate and timely information
• Assist with media responsibilities and daily promotion of the organizational brand
• Serve as a secondary communications contact for the Kansas City Royals
• Actively contribute in meetings as a member of the communications team
• Build rapport and relationships with local and national media
• Collaborate with staff members to develop and execute proactive corporate communications strategies that help achieve organizational goals
• Maintain confidentiality

Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
• Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university
• Must possess a minimum of 3 years of public/media relations experience
• Demonstrates excellent verbal and presentation skills
• Displays compelling writing skills
• Exhibits outstanding professionalism, judgment, and integrity
• Willingness to manage early morning and evening media requests. This includes some weekend games.
• Must be a highly organized self-starter able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
• Bilingual is a plus

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift items weighing as much as 15 pounds
• Must be able to work in a seated position for majority of workday
• Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone
• Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
• Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus
• Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling

This role is a Full-Time, Exempt opportunity that is eligible for Company Benefits, 401K, and PTO. This role is expected to have a standard 40-hour work week.
