What You'll Do:
The main role of the Cost Accountant will be to own the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland cost budget and ensure that the budget is fully reconciled to the accounting system (SAP). The cost accountant will work with the Event Management team to ensure the staffing and operational budgets are managed throughout and post-event, regularly updated, and continually reconciled correctly so they always represent a true reflection of the event's costs.
The role will require some onsite work during the event.
The Cost Accountant must have a pro-active and adaptive approach to work as well as a willingness and interest of continuous improvement in the role.
• Provide support to Event Directors and other budget holders through tracking, review and reconciliation of cost budget on a continuous basis, enabling accurate reporting at all times
• Work with the Event Management team to continually streamline the event budgets, improving processes wherever possible across the staffing, operational and expenses budgets
• Ownership of the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland cost budget file
• Maintain a reconciled and accurate cost section of the P&L
• Supply relevant information to budget holders/departments on the status of their spend throughout the event
• Provide regular and ad hoc management reporting for decision-making including variance analysis
• Own and maintain various relationships across the event team, including Event Directors, Finance, Marketing and HR
• Support the wider team in the use of the budget and regularly checking budgets are working correctly with no errors across all sections.
• Posting journals to facilitate budget reconciliation
• Monitoring cash flow requirements based on invoice due dates
• Ensuring payments are made on time and dealing with any queries from suppliers
You Have These:
• 1 + years PQE – ACA / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent
• Strong IT skills (especially Microsoft Office and SharePoint)
• Excellent communication skills
• Process-orientated and able to manage and reconcile large data sets
• Flexibility
• Strong commercial awareness
