Web Developer / Designer

Job Description

The Web Developer/Designer is responsible for delivering new features and functionalities and the maintenance of the Rockets digital platforms. This role requires a robust set of technical skills including extensive knowledge of front-end web development, proficiency with graphics software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator) and general creative and problem-solving skills, in both independent and collaborative environments. Project Management skills, effective time management and mental acuity in dynamic situations are desired. Additionally, this position will work with a wide-range of internal and external departments and vendors where timely, accurate communication and constructive collaboration are required.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
• Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining all online properties including, but not limited to, Rockets Mobile App, Rockets.com and RocketsShop.com. This includes keeping the sites up to date and free of errors.
• Work with the graphic design group to maintain style guides and branding specifications.
• Work with NBA Digital on league web technology best practices
• Train digital team on new web technologies that focus on generating and/or automating content for our websites and social media outlets
• Reporting of various metrics including web and mobile page views, engagement, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Software Proficiency Requirements
• Mastery of Responsive web design using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Strong understanding of JavaScript concepts and experience using ES6 or better
• Proficiency with React or Vue.js.libraries
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Experience with prototyping and design software such as Sketch and Sigma is a plus, but not required
• Experience with basic storage extensions (XML, CSV, & JSON)
• Experience with Relational Databases (SQL & Postgres)
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (S3, RDS, EC2 & Lambda)
• Familiarity with UNIX Command Line Interface

Skills and Functionalities
• Advanced Front-end web development skills
• UI/UX Design patterns and best practices
• Ability to produce high quality interfaces without the use of frameworks
• Strong grasp of core JavaScript concepts
• Experience with REST APIs
• Server-side experience in NodeJS and PHP preferred
• Experience with Drupal, Shopify and other Content Management Systems
• General knowledge of mobile application development and iterative product life cycles
• Product/Project Management
• Ability to accurately estimate and communicate project requirements
• Ability to work multiple nights and weekends

• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear.
• The vision requirement includes close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Nature of position requires mobility and the ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
• Must have ability to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed.
