Job Description
Hearst Television is seeking a creative, energetic, and flexible News Photographer and Editor to join our Washington, DC News Bureau. You provide the first-hand perspective as our team covers the biggest national political stories and local impact angles for Hearst Television's 27 newsrooms. This photographer and editor creates visually compelling television stories on tight deadlines and is versatile and comfortable shooting and editing from the field and in remote locations around the nation's Capitol and the country. You will be at the forefront of infusing active video, natural sound, data, graphics, and animation into your storytelling. You are a self-starter who possesses excellent video editing skills, communicates respectfully and effectively, excels at organization and time-management, and has knowledge of local television newsroom workflows. Approaching every assignment with an unbiased, fact and context driven journalistic mentality is a must. Our DC team shoots with full ENG camera (Sony x400), GoPro, and iPhone, edits using Adobe Premiere, and primarily uses TVU for live capabilities. You will be reporting to the Chief Photographer.

Responsibilities:
• Shooting and editing video news stories for broadcast and multi-media platforms
• Responsible for technical set-up, lighting, and shooting of live segments in the field and studio
• Working with correspondents and producers to ensure the best content and facts are gathered and included in stories
• Working with correspondents and producers to ensure their creative vision is executed with vivid video and graphics
• Communicating and coordinating incoming video elements from various sources
• In-person attendance required
Qualifications:
You have at least 1-2 years of experience in a local TV newsroom or DC bureau. A successful candidate understands how local newsrooms operate on a daily basis, the basics of news gathering and video editing on a daily deadline, how to quickly respond to breaking news, and can effectively communicate needs or issues. You have a passion for journalism, experience with fast decision-making, are reliable, respect your equipment and the workspaces of others, and are able to manage the stress and expectations of a working newsroom. Additional qualification requirements include:
• Can easily carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
• Can work in all weather conditions
• Must have a valid driver's license and a near-perfect driving record
Salary Statement:
The estimated salary range for this role is $71,000 - $74,000. The actual salary offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, and other factors permitted by law. The salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
