Job Description
Hearst Television's Washington Bureau is announcing a newly created position with a primary focus on White House and Congressional reporting and unbiased explanation of the political impact on communities in our local markets. In addition to providing reports across Hearst Television's 31 stations and additional Hearst media platforms, this position will focus on elevating Hearst reporting on a national level.

Job Responsibilities:
• This person will provide an in-depth look at government policy impacts beyond Washington and into our local markets, giving voice to the under-represented viewers across the country.
• This role provides analysis and explanations of actions in Congress and the White House for Hearst Television's 31 local markets- with appearances on newscasts, weekly political shows and other multi-media platforms.
• This person will also serve as a Hearst national analyst and expert for outside networks, prominent podcasts, and other programming. This person will regularly attend White House briefings, developing and maintaining news sources and newsmaker contacts to help break stories.
• This position works in tandem with other Hearst correspondents breaking down issues that impact our local markets, not just reporting the national headlines.
• This person will also work closely with various stations to customize content and provide multi-platform content.

Qualification Requirements:
• Qualified candidates should be well-versed in Washington politics and the impact beyond Washington and into our local markets. This person should excel in live coverage, be a strong communicator, cool under deadlines, and work well both independently and in a team dynamic.
• Ability to follow and dissect complex issues, identify key components and craft into a well-told story easy for viewers to understand. Must know how to develop and maintain news sources and information.
• Versatility is a must as reporters cover a wide range of topics and subjects, must be up to date on current events and able to react and respond to developing situations and continuing coverage.

Experience Requirements:

Candidates should have at least 5 years on-air experience and a political coverage background.
