Job Description
Hearst Television (HTV) seeks an Evening Assignment Editor to join our group design hub in Orlando, FL. Successful candidate will act as liaison between HTV's 26 broadcast properties and the hub's team of designers. Position will monitor, assign and approve daily news work orders requested by stations and work closely with broadcast news and marketing professionals to build and strengthen hub relations. Excellent organizational skills are required to keep projects on track and on time for delivery in an extremely fast paced, deadline driven environment. Reports to News Operations Manager, HTV Design, working inside design hub in Orlando, FL.

Job Responsibilities:
• Monitor queue of daily news graphics requests from 26 Hearst Television markets
• Assign orders to Designers and approve completed work for accuracy before delivery to stations
• Field incoming phone calls and act as first point of contact for local television stations
• Communicate effectively with broadcast news and marketing professionals
• Help troubleshoot and streamline graphics production process, effectively managing expectations and workflow
• Monitor news sources for breaking news to stay ahead stories
• Demonstrate good news and editorial judgment
• Support and follow brand guidance and design systems created for multiple design packages and looks across Hearst Television group

Experience Requirements:
• 3+ years in a news environment
• Familiar with all aspects of television production
• Excellent proofreading skills
• Photoshop knowledge a plus
• Newsroom assignment desk experience a plus
• Understanding of newsroom software used by producers a plus
• Understanding of DAM and Project Management software a plus

Qualifications Requirements:
• Extraordinary organizational and project management skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Great understanding of broadcast news, television production and how graphics can be used in news storytelling

Education:
• Related experience and/or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience.
