Oprah Daily is seeking a visionary yet collaborative Digital Design Director to lead the visual expression of our brand across web, social, and video. This is a rare opportunity to shape the digital design direction of a legacy brand with cultural impact-creating stunning, story-driven visuals that resonate with millions.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the end-to-end digital design process for OprahDaily.com, including homepage design, story templates, galleries, and special features.
• Collaborate daily with editorial, art, photo, video, and social teams to conceptualize and execute engaging, cross-platform storytelling.
• Design and develop visual templates for SEO-forward content such as listicles, shopping features, and slideshows - balancing efficiency with brand excellence.
• Commission and art direct illustration, found photography, and motion-forward assets that bring stories to life.
• Partner with product and UX teams to optimize site design and user experience.
• Contribute to Apple News+ issues and occasional print extensions, ensuring a cohesive brand identity across platforms.
• Work closely with senior leadership and high-profile stakeholders to deliver exceptional design that meets creative vision and editorial goals.
Qualifications (What We're Looking For)
• 7+ years of professional design experience, with a primary focus on digital editorial environments.
• Proven ability to lead digital-first design projects from concept through execution.
• Strong visual storytelling instincts, with expertise in typography, layout, and creative use of existing assets (stock, found art, etc.).
• Experience designing for SEO-driven formats like galleries, shopping stories, and listicles.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, feedback-heavy environment - able to absorb multiple viewpoints while maintaining creative integrity.
• High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills; thrives on collaboration, not ego.
• Familiarity with motion graphics and video workflows; doesn't need to animate but should know how to concept and collaborate in the space.
• Expertise in Figma, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; experience with Woodwing a plus.
• Some experience with print is helpful, but not required.
The base salary for this role is $116,000-$120,000 . The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
This position is based in the NYC office a minimum of 3 days a week. No remote option.
