Job Description
Hearst's Enthusiast Group is looking for a Deputy Editor, Special Projects & Social Media for Popular Mechanics, Runner's World, Best Products, and Bicycling. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience managing large social followings, growing audience organically across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, and Apple News, and collaborating across teams to achieve the Enthusiast Group's goals. The person in this role will oversee all day-to-day operations critical to each brand's social and special project strategy.

This candidate should be a confident manager, able to translate content from one platform to another, and have strong analytical skills. He or she should be competent at navigating multiple projects at once, comfortable with shifting priorities, and capable of seeing trends through the metrics. This deputy will spearhead the social platform connections between our brands and our audience.

This role reports sits with the Service and News Team in Easton, PA and works closely with a variety of departments, including Features, Design, Video, Sales, Commerce, and Executive Stakeholders. Qualifications:
• You have 5+ years of professional social media experience
• You have strong editorial judgment, clean writing skills, and 2+ years of staff management experience
• You have an affinity for and knowledge of one or more areas of deepest interest to our group's audiences (running, cycling, home and yard DIY and repair, science and tech, and math)
• You enjoy spotting social trends and keeping abreast of social media landscape changes
• You are a savvy strategist and expert data analyst
• You have experience with social platforms, social publishing tools, and social analytics
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Digital Media Studies, Communications, English, Literature or related fields from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this role
• Ability to work autonomously while maintaining open communication and a collaborative spirit with our fast-paced team
