PRODUCER/DIGITAL NEWS (P/T) - KPLC

Lake Charles is the fifth-largest city in Louisiana. KPLC began broadcasting in the summer of 1954 and is consistently on of the nation's most innovative and most
watched television stations, ranking among the top 5 Nielsen rated stations nationally throughout the year.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
-Writing stories
-Edit and post video to station website, mobile apps, and social media platforms
-Edit video, images, and interviews to match scripts for use in newscasts and on digital sites
-Shoot video with phone or camera as needed
-Respond to breaking news and urgent newsroom situation
-Upload raw video and still photos to the website
-Communicate with editorial staff to post information factually, fairly, and quickly to digital platforms
-Write copy for the web and newscasts
-Explore ways to increase visual content on the website and digital platforms
-Collaborate on story ideas with news team daily
-Answer phones, follow up on tips, and make beat calls

Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field
-Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
-Have excellent communication skills, and computer literate
-Must be able to work well under pressure with limited supervision and daily deadlines.
-MVR and drug screening required.
