Job Summary/Description:
Alaska's News Source is looking for an experienced investigative reporter to add to our dedicated and award-winning I-Team. The right candidate will be proven and passionate about holding the powerful accountable and delivering in-depth, hard-hitting, solutions-based journalism that gets results. We seek a reporter who can juggle multiple short and long-term projects at once. Knowledge of public records is a must. Experience with data journalism is preferred.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
* Pitch, generate, report, and present investigative story ideas for broadcast and digital platforms
* Contribute investigative reporting during breaking news events, as needed or assigned
* Work on major investigative projects, individually and/or as part of a team
* Pitch and create unique content for digital and streaming/OTT platforms, including written digital articles, podcasts, in-depth interviews and original investigative products
* Respond to viewers/readers to get answers and help to solve problems they bring to the I-team's attention via email or on the investigative tip line
*Serves as a fill-in anchor as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred, equivalent experience will be considered
* A minimum of 3 years of reporting experience is required, with experience turning investigative stories
* Extensive live reporting experience
* Excellent writing and time management skills
* Track-record of developing strong relationships with a variety of sources
* Understanding of and adherence to ethical reporting standards as outlined by the SPJ Code of Ethics
* Understanding of and adherence to AP Style (for digital platforms) and broadcast writing (for television)
* Must exhibit competence in the use of broadcast, digital, social and streaming platforms
* Must include an example of recent investigative work with application
