The Gray stations located in Florida are a tight-knit team of passionate journalists in well-established newsrooms. The bureau will provide daily content to multiple stations, with a demonstrated ability to take what is written into a bill or said in committee into visual, people-driven stories. The work will reach hundreds of thousands of viewers in multiple key markets across the Sunshine State.

Job Summary/Description:

Gray Media Group is recruiting an experienced and competitive political reporter who will thrive in an environment that focuses on covering politics and statewide government issues in the capital of the third largest state in the country with a Governor who continually generates national news. The position is based in Tallahassee, Florida and the reporter will generate stories for several Gray television stations. This is a unique opportunity to become the face of Florida politics for multiple markets within our company.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Generating content ideas and maintaining a weekly coverage calendar that stations will have access to
- Organizing stories with photographer and dividing up duties as necessary
- Compelling live reporting, including daily coverage during legislative sessions, breaking news and enterprise stories
- Coordinating live shots for Gray affiliates in multiple Florida markets
- Building up contacts and maintaining a network of strong, reliable sources
- Demonstrated knowledge of covering complex government and politics stories with accuracy and balance

Qualifications/Requirements:
- 3+ years as an MMJ or reporter in a television newsroom; state house experience in a capital city a plus
- BS/BA in journalism or communications
- A valid driver's license and good driving record
- Good news judgment and journalistic integrity
- Experience with live equipment such as TVU and LiveU
- Substantial knowledge of politics and government issues, and passion for reporting on these topics
