ASSOCIATE NEWS PRODUCER (P/T) - WEAU

About WEAU:

We're an hour drive from the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area in a growing community with great schools and health care. WEAU is affiliated with NBC and produces 30 hours of news every week.

Job Summary/Description:

This is an entry-level position. WEAU 13 News, the dominant station in Eau Claire, WI, is looking for a creative part-time associate news producer. We need someone who writes tight, compelling copy, and thinks outside the box. Our producers edit video and work closely with our anchors. They also post stories to our website and update our social media platforms.

Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
• Produce a creative and informative newscast with emphasis on the viewers' interests
• Coordinate the writing and editing of scripts that incorporate video, nat sound and graphics to enhance storytelling
• Line-produce and time the newscast in the control room
• Adapt to breaking news and developing stories

Qualifications/Requirements:
• A high school diploma is required; current and former communication or journalism students encouraged to apply
• Must keep up on local, state, national and international events
• Must work individually as well as part of a team; requires work with many personalities
