Job Description

Fox Television Stations is one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 29 stations in 18 markets and covering over 37% of US television homes. This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, DC and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Seattle.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Create, develop and produce daily television newscast as assigned. Select content and assign stories to writers and editors and copy edit that content. Write stories and teases for newscasts. Work closely with Managing Editor and Executive Producer and other news managers on story selection, editorial priorities and content. Conceptualize graphics, video wall/monitor displays and other visual newscast elements with Executive Producer and Directors. Incorporate digital and social media content into newscasts. React and respond quickly to breaking news during newscasts. Monitor show timing to ensure newscast breaks and off-times are executed correctly. Produce segments and write stories as assigned for other newscasts

Solid news judgement, with emphasis on winning breaking news. Excellent writing skills. Excellent organizational and communication skills with an ability to multitask. Excellent people skills, even under intense pressure. Knowledge of newsroom computer systems, particularly iNews, BitCentral and Oasis. Understanding of visual news tools like video walls and graphics to enhance overall newscast production. Knowledge of social media, web-based workflows for producing, posting and uploading video and graphics. 3-5 years of experience line producing for local TV, cable or network newscast. Major market experience preferred. College Degree preferred.
