Fox Television Stations is one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 29 stations in 18 markets and covering over 37% of US television homes. This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, DC and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Seattle.
Will create, develop and write for daily television newscast as assigned. Copy edit assigned content. Write stories and teases for newscasts. Work closely with producer on story construction, editorial priorities and content. Create graphics, video wall/monitor displays and other visual newscast elements. Incorporate digital and social media content into newscasts. React and respond quickly to breaking news during newscasts. Edit video for assigned news stories. Produce segments and write stories as assigned for other newscasts.
Solid news judgement, with emphasis on wining breaking news. Excellent writing skills. Excellent organizational and communication skills with an ability to multitask. Excellent people skills, even under intense pressure. Knowledge of newsroom computer systems, particularly iNews, BitCentral and Oasis. Understanding of visual news tools like video walls and graphics to enhance overall newscast production. Knowledge of social media, web based workflows for producing, posting and uploading video and graphics. 3-5 years of experience writing for a local TV, cable or network newscast. Major experience preferred. Producing experience preferred. College degree preferred.
