Fox Television Stations is one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 29 stations in 18 markets and covering over 37% of US television homes. This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, DC and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Seattle.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Editor uses raw material to prepare video sequences for publication during newscasts and on digital platforms. Works closely with the Digital Team and Newscast Producers to help identify strong video content for both mediums.
• Edits video sequences for air under deadline using editing software
• Uses software to restore and archive video in long-term storage
• Updates iNews scripts to indicate running times of video sequences and times for graphics to be added over video sequences during live newscasts and special news coverage
• Informs producers and writers about any discrepancies between written scripts and edited stories
• Works to identify and prepare compelling video content for publication on digital and social media platforms
• Prepares file video for use in the field as needed
• Edits special reports for sweeps periods
• Serves as Editing Coordinator for newscasts when needed
• Assists Editing Coordinator by taking in feeds, restoring archive video, and making sure all elements in a rundown are online before deadline
• Operates ENG Receive equipment as needed

Requirements: Demonstrated skills in video editing under daily deadline pressure

Familiarity with social media and clipping elements for use in those channels
Organizational skills (including strong digital organization). A Bachelor's degree from a four- year college or university preferred. Two years of experience at a commercial television station as a news video editor is required.
