Fox Television Stations is one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 29 stations in 18 markets and covering over 37% of US television homes. This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, DC and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Seattle.

JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX 13 and FOX 13+ is seeking an Assistant News Director to join our team. The position will assist the VP/News Director in the overall management of the news department, including supervision of various workgroups. Will be a leader in the newsroom on various social media platforms in order to connect with and consistently engage our audience on all platforms. This leadership includes monitoring social media as needed during all dayparts. Will lead editorial meetings to plan daily news coverage as well as long-term planning. Assists in recruitment of staff, and evaluates employee performance on an ongoing basis. Will work closely with the news director and news management team on various station projects and initiatives.

Must have excellent supervisory and management skills. Must be a good coach and willing to train and mentor younger or newer employees. Must have exceptional editorial judgment and the ability to deliver compelling live television, as well as timely and consistent compelling content on digital media. Must have experience working with newsroom budgets and a strong background in legal and ethical issues as it relates to the newsgathering process. Must have the ability to challenge employees to grow and develop newsgathering and reporting skills to consistently deliver informative, compelling and accurate newscasts. Must be able to use newsroom computer systems, including AVID iNews and AVID search, editing and graphics programs. Valid driver's license and credit card required.
