JOB DESCRIPTION

Fox News is seeking a top Washington Field and Package Producer for FOX News Edge. Fox News Edge serves more than 170 newsrooms, providing content that is a cornerstone of local newscasts on FOX television stations across the country. The Field and Package Producer is energized by working on a broad portfolio of politics, government, and breaking news stories. From elections to weather to breaking news of national interest, the Field and Package Producer coordinates Fox News Edge teams in the field, covering the biggest stories of the day. You'll closely monitor major news stories that matter to the nation and localize them for Fox News Edge affiliates. And you'll also be forward-looking, working ahead on stories that resonate with local audiences from coast to coast.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Package produce – pitch stories, write and produce compelling packages and oversee final edits
• Work closely with reporters both in the bureau on daily packages and infield for live shots
• Gather the best video and sound elements, copy edit scripts, and screen video content prior to distribution
• Travel the country as part of a correspondent team to produce live coverage of the biggest news events for a national network of FOX broadcast affiliates

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Exemplary news judgment and grasp of journalism best practices, with attention to detail
• Interest and familiarity with key newsmakers, issues, and events driving the news
• Clear and concise writing skills, including spelling and grammar, with an emphasis on accuracy
• Fox News Edge is a total team effort: the ability to work well with others under strict deadlines is a must
• Writing and producing experience at an affiliate or network level
• Strong researching skills from a variety of sources including social media
• Willingness to work flexible hours

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER
• Bachelor's degree (preferably in a related field)

WORKING CONDITIONS

Nine hour shifts, often spent on a desktop computer in the newsroom. Other shifts involve traveling and working in a variety of weather, performing a number of functions from editorial work on a laptop to assisting crews with the logistics of network news coverage. This position requires working in the field, in and around federal complexes, and outdoors in and around Washington as well. Frequent travel around the country, and occasionally internationally, is also a part of this position.
