Launched in October 2021, the platform builds upon FOX News Channel's expansive newsgathering units & FOX Television Stations' added resources with a combined 120 meteorologists for a comprehensive suite of weather products featuring local, regional and national reporting, in addition to live programming. Utilizing multiple radar systems, including an immersive mobile 3D radar, and more than 100,000 HD cameras located around the country, the service offers users an innovative approach to forecasting, including coverage surrounding all weather patterns, from immediate to long-term. FOX Weather is available via foxweather.com, the FOX Weather app on IOS and Android devices, as well as Tubi, Apple TV, Amazon, and Roku, through FOX's Connected TV Apps.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Fox Weather is looking for a Desk Production Assistant to join our Assignment Desk team in New York City. As a Desk PA, you will learn the various functions of the desk, carry out assigned duties and act as an ambassador for Fox Weather. You will assist the Assignment Editors in answering phones, coordinating live shot requests, gathering information and content on breaking news, editing video and coordinating with show teams.

A passion for weather combined with curiosity, a hunger to learn, and flexibility to jump into any task will help you excel on the desk.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Answer phones and coordinate requests for reporter and meteorologist live shots between Fox Weather and other platforms
• Gather and communicate information on breaking and ongoing weather stories
• Maintain awareness of active and breaking weather and elevate urgent situations to others
• Gather content from various sources and clear User-Generated Content (UGC) from social media
• Edit video and coordinate with show teams
• Learn how to book crews and live windows
• Learn and support all functions of the assignment desk

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
• 6 months to 1 year of broadcast experience in a network or local newsroom
• Strong editorial judgment and logistical skills
• Candidates must be willing to work weekends and overnights. This is a fully in-person role
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced intense atmosphere
• Motivated, self-starter who can work independently as well as in a team environment
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize is a necessity
• Ability to monitor social media for news

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $19.48-25.00 per hour for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
