JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Freelance Copy Editor to join the team! As the Freelance Copy Editor, you are a crucial member of our team helping to review, improve and approve headlines, captions, news articles, and features covering a wide variety of topics for a 24/7 news operation. You have a positive attitude and understand the level of commitment required. As the Freelance Copy Editor, your passion for national and international news is bar none!

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Edit stories with speed and precision, making sure articles conform to Fox News and AP style on FoxNews.com and FoxBusiness.com
• Fact-check stories for accuracy, including poring over social media accounts and watching videos
• Manage several stories on tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
• Prioritize stories according to their placement on the homepages
• Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Willingness to learn about metrics platforms, like Chartbeat
• 5+ years working in a newsroom; experience in digital journalism and publishing is preferred
• Ability to write and edit quickly on deadline
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience
• A positive and collaborative attitude
• Excellent knowledge of SEO and prior CMS experience
• Possess strong news judgment
• Willingness to learn quickly and execute new skills

Pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay For Equal Work Act, please find the compensation range specific to this role if based in Colorado, as well as a description of bonus and benefits generally: Colorado pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skill, experience, and geography: $31.73 - $42.79 per hour. We provide Freelancers with healthcare and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents.
