Job Description
WBFF-Fox 45 is looking for a Senior Newscast Director with a strong background in automated directing, particularly with Overdrive, to oversee the live production of our news broadcasts. The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of hands-on experience in automated directing and be well-versed in the technical aspects of directing a news program. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate and manage the Overdrive automated directing system during live newscast productions.
• Collaborate closely with the production team, including producers, technical staff, and camera operators, to ensure seamless and error-free live broadcasts.
• Monitor and adjust the timing and sequencing of video sources, graphics, and on-air talent during the newscast.
• Ensure the newscast runs smoothly, making real-time adjustments as needed to maintain a high-quality broadcast.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may arise during live broadcasts.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of production equipment, ensuring all systems are in optimal working condition.
• Work closely with the Technical Director to coordinate and execute special visual effects and graphics.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in automated directing, bringing innovative ideas to improve our newscasts.
Qualifications:
• 2-3 years of experience in automated directing, with a strong preference for experience using Overdrive or similar automated directing systems.
• Proficiency in the operation of broadcast equipment, including video switchers, graphics systems, and audio consoles.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with a team of professionals in a high-pressure environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently.
• Knowledge of industry-standard software and hardware used in live production and broadcasting.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to support live newscast schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Communications, or a related field.
• Experience in a newsroom or broadcast studio setting.
• Knowledge of graphics design and integration into live broadcasts.
• Familiarity with other broadcast systems and equipment beyond Overdrive.
