Sports Director

Job Description

FOX44/KWKT is seeking a Sports Director to present sports across all of our platforms and lead our brand-new Sports Department.
• The successful candidate will enterprise, research, and present sports stories with an emphasis on local sports
• Solid news judgment, strong writing, dynamic storytelling and presentation skills, online and social media skills, and technical ability are critical
• Must be able to shoot, write, and edit stories on a daily basis
• Must be willing and able to report general assignment news as needed
• Must be a motivated team player willing to work flexible hours
• Must be able to meet deadlines
• Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license

Requirements & Skills:
• At least 3-5 years of experience as a sports anchor or reporter at a commercial television preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of sports and sports related activities
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
• Superior on-air presence
• Experience guiding, directing and motivating others
• Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge/skills
• Non-linear editing; basic knowledge of sports and the ability to develop stories locally; strong writing skills; experience shooting, writing, and editing in a digital environment
• Must be able to engage viewers via web, social media, and mobile platforms
• Pre-employment background screen required
