About the Role & Team
This position supporting ESPN UK, FC, and ESPN F1 creates and manages content, analyses metrics, and boosts brand presence. Leading ESPN F1, you will oversee strategy, collaborate with editorial teams, cover live events, and ensure high-quality, engaging posts to attract and retain a sports-focused audience across platforms.
This role will require you to be onsite 4 days a week.
What You Will Do
• Support the Social Media Manager in overseeing the social team in the UK.
• Lead all aspects of the creation, curation, and scheduling of engaging content across all relevant social media platforms for ESPN UK, FC and F1.
• Help develop and implement social media strategies.
• Assist with content creation and scheduling for ESPN Africa as needed.
• Ensure alignment with overall brand goals and objectives, tailoring content to resonate with each platform's audience.
• Create compelling, high-quality content including graphics, videos and captions for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X and YouTube Shorts.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in social media and implement guidelines.
• Observe social media channels for trending topics and conversations, to boost engagement.
• Track and analyse performance metrics to gauge the success of content. Provide regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and use insights to optimise future content and strategies, with a specific focus on F1.
• Work with the Disney/ESPN sales teams and appointed third-party agencies on social media initiatives.
• Work with the US ESPN Digital and Social teams to follow practice guidelines and coordinate activities.
• Be available to work on a rota that includes weekend shifts to cover live events and engage with our audience during peak sports hours.
• Provide live coverage of sporting events, including real-time updates and post-event analysis.
• Attend and cover key sports events as needed, creating live content and engaging fans during the events.
• Provide live coverage and real-time updates for major sports events, especially F1, ensuring high engagement levels.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Social media management, with experience in a leadership / management role.
• Passion for sports, particularly football, Formula 1, MMA and other major sports relevant to ESPN's audience.
• Proficiency with social media platforms and tools, including Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and social media management tools.
• Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with social media analytics tools.
• Creative mentality with a keen eye for design and detail.
• Competent with graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop
