The ESPN Financial Planning & Analysis team is a multi-functional group that leads the consolidation and analysis of the Sports segment of The Walt Disney Company.
The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in preparing and consolidating ESPN's cash flow annual plan, long-range plan, and financial forecasts. This position will collaborate closely with teams across Finance, Accounting, and Treasury to ensure accurate and insightful financial planning. In addition, this role will support reporting and analysis for ESPN's minority stakeholders, including Hearst Corporation. A day in the life may include maintaining ESPN cash flow models, preparing P&L's for close and forecast, consolidating variance explanations, and developing segment storylines for ESPN's minority owners and for Disney Corporate. This role will gain exposure to and an understanding of the business by working closely with various senior leaders to analyze financial performance and develop actionable insights and recommendations.
Responsibilities:
• Own and maintain ESPN cash flow models, working in partnership with finance and accounting contacts to deliver accurate cash flow forecasts and assemble variance explanations for senior management
• Maintain the ESPN segment P&L for ESPN's minority owners, playing a key role in segment quarterly close, forecast development and analysis, and summarizing key information for management. Additional responsibilities include calculating and analyzing annual dividend payments to ESPN's minority owners.
• Lead the close and forecast process for Other Revenue within the ESPN P&L.
• Assist in driving finance transformation initiatives including the integration of the ESPN P&L into a new finance system.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and assist with implementation efforts for departmental projects/initiatives.
• Assist the Senior Manager on special projects, as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
• 3+ years of relevant work experience
• Fluency with financial concepts and analysis
• Acute attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated experience with managing competing priorities and deadlines
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint, including advanced formula comprehension and ability to create financial presentations
Preferred Qualifications & Education
• Experience working with Oracle, Cognos TM1 and SAP
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related field
