The Programming Coordinator supports the Programming & Scheduling team on the day-to-day 24/7 scheduling and management of ESPN's linear television networks, including ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPNU and ESPN Classic; contributes to the strategic scheduling of all studio, original content and live event content across networks and platforms to maximize viewership and revenue; works collaboratively across all ESPN departments to fulfill established company/team priorities and goals.
Responsibilities:
• Scheduling liaison ESPN's linear television networks across all sport and league teams within Programming & Original Content; responsible for maintaining the networks' schedules on a 24/7 basis.
• Responsible for publically publishing all linear network schedules at least 90 days in advance, in addition to maintaining a set schedule in Content Schedule over two years out.
• Responsible for effective communication of network schedule planning and schedule changes across all departments and internal/external stakeholders.
• Work closely with Research, Revenue Yield Management, Ad Sales and Finance to evaluate program performance and maintain an accurate long range plan.
• Partner with the Associate Manager to analyze and evaluate trends in ratings and behavior into recommended actions and strategies.
• Supply internal stakeholders and senior management with detailed information including program and ratings information and manage communication as needed.
• As part of the programming team, contribute new ideas and suggestions guided by ESPN's overall brand strategies, viewer response, and the competitive landscape.
Basic Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of ESPN's live event, studio, and original programming schedule and strategy.
• Strong knowledge of sports television, the sports business & the cable industry.
• One year of experience in a professional work setting.
• Proficient computer skills, emphasis on Microsoft Office suite and current social media platforms
• Strong communication skills. Highly organized and efficient.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two years of work experience in the sports media industry, television programming and/or professional or college sports
• Knowledge of Content Scheduler system
• General familiarity with TV and digital audience measurement
