The Media Operations team is responsible for the planning, sourcing, processing and archiving of various types of media formats and content, including the distribution of on-air programming. This position can be assigned and will work within several different operational areas in this team.

Coordinating Media Operators work with many business partners and customers within and outside of ESPN including Production Control room personnel, remote production teams, and outside vendors. Work will be performed in a fast-paced environment and often under tight deadlines with a wide variety of content requirements. The Coordinating Media Operator will demonstrate superior skills in the use of all broadcast equipment and technology within assigned operating areas, processing media files for live and pre-recorded content across all ESPN linear and digital platforms. The Coordinating Media Operator will be responsible for recording, editing, playback, transcoding, cataloguing, and archiving of various media formats and server-based material while ensuring all content meets ESPN's standards for video and audio quality. They are also responsible for local media management and naming conventions.

In addition, the expectation is that Coordinating Media Operators will create classes or learning opportunities that foster development for other operators along with recommending, designing and coordinating the implementation of new and efficient workflows.

Responsibilities:
• Outstanding ability to operate in a fast paced, high pressure and deadline driven environment.
• Exceptional demonstration of measuring audio and video signals and comprehensive knowledge of broadcast methods to ensure quality control of ESPN endorsed standards on all operations
• Demonstrate a superior knowledge of editing techniques on non-linear systems.
• High degree of problem-solving skills, troubleshooting techniques and effective communication to best convey any issues needing resolution.
• Expected to train others in operational areas and provide applicable documentation and feedback. May also be expected to contribute to the establishment of training plans for staff development.
• Expected to create classes or learning opportunities that foster development for other operators.
• Expected to recommend, design and coordinate the implementation of new and efficient workflows.
• Seek out information regarding the workflow of other business units, including their impact and/or specific integration with Production Operations, and utilize that information to enhance processes and/or educate others.
• Expected to prioritize and disseminate information amongst peers.
• Must be highly skilled at interpreting and understanding complex information while disseminating it to proper personnel in a clear and concise manner.
• Participation in required administrative tasks including, but not limited to, the effective utilization of all ESPN software-based applications (such as time entry, travel and expense filing,) and daily shift reporting.
• Embrace company initiatives including town hall and/or departmental meetings, upward feedback, performance management applications and employee surveys and encourage others to do the same.
• Participate in training programs, (physical, classroom, virtual, etc.) for self-career development and/or regarding any relevant equipment and workflow changes within the operation.
• Any other duties needed to help achieve business objectives.

Basic Qualifications:
• A minimum of 6 years practical Television Production or related experience at the large market or network level
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Flexibility to alter shifts/days off and work overtime to accommodate projects and departmental objectives.
• Must demonstrate ability to perform tasks under tight deadlines, work independently and lead simultaneous projects.
• Ability to work as a part of a team dynamic.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills are a necessity.
• Excellent organizational, efficiency and planning skills are required.
• Ability to initiate and coordinate projects related to training and enhancing business workflows with little managerial oversight.
• Must be willing and able to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
• Candidates must have good computer background (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc...) and strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Expert knowledge of server playback system and non-linear editing systems such as Quantel.
• Superior knowledge of TV Production equipment, workflows, and technology including but not limited to, broadcast routers, vector scope and waveform monitors, media management, and technical standards.
• Bilingual (written and spoken) – English/Spanish

Required Education
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism or related field
• Vocational School Certification
• Related Experience
