What You'll Do

As a Sr. Cloud Engineer, you will be working with a team of other Cloud Engineers on the Dedicated Server Platform team to develop, maintain, and enhance the Dedicated Server Platform. You will use your expertise to implement new tools and software, improve existing tooling and software, and work directly with customers to scope new features for our backend management platform.

Additionally, you will write, design, maintain, and implement user-facing APIs to support frontend development of user-facing applications. You will also help offer direct support to users of the Dedicated Server Platform by triaging, debugging and solving issues.

Activities will include designing, writing, implementing, testing, and debugging software packages and components primarily using Golang to develop and extend features for the Dedicated Server Platform, and provide constructive feedback to the design and development process for the team. You will also design, develop, and integrate industry leading distributed systems to directly support and benefit future development of Fortnite and other game titles. You will assist in technical code reviews to evaluate adherence of development standards and will coordinate with production, design, and users to meet technical and creative requirements.

In this role, you will
• Collaborate with the Dedicated Server Platform team to design, code and maintain the automation platform that deploys, scales and manages Epic's globally distributed fleets of dedicated game servers.
• Design, code and maintain user interfaces that enabled game owners to easily view and manage their dedicated server fleets.
• Work across teams to optimize reliability, performance, latency and efficiency of game server fleets.
• Define, collect and report on service quality and efficiency metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Participate in on-call rotation and quickly diagnose, offer assistance, and fix any support issues that arise.
• Mentor and train junior engineers on team standards and policies.

What we're looking for
• 4 years experience with public cloud providers (AWS or GCP or Azure)
• 5 years experience working with RESTful services
• 2 years experience building RESTful services

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field plus 5 years of experience
