What We Do
Put your design skills to work at a cutting-edge company that challenges the norm. From character and level design to competitive gameplay and system design, help shape the future of interactive entertainment at Epic.
What You'll Do
Epic Games' Fortnite Ecosystem team is looking for a versatile Gameplay Designer. In this role you will help design systems and workflows that bridge the divide between projects and products. You will be working on core gameplay systems straddling Unreal Engine, UEFN and Fortnite Creative to empower content creators and developers. Our ideal candidate has experience in systems and gameplay design and brings a passion for creative empowerment for both players and developers alike.
In this role, you will
• Help identify and design gameplay features that expand the Fortnite Ecosystem to new genres and audiences
• Design features utilizing systems and tools design, ensuring a good end-user experience and producing quality documentation
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team to guide the feature to final implementation, providing feedback and design input throughout the process
• Provide constant design feedback about features and take on feedback from other team members and disciplines
• Be the primary point of contact for triage of open issues related to your feature
• Help develop new features and processes within the design team
What we're looking for
• 3-6+ years of experience in building UI and experiences in game engines and across multiple platforms (mobile, web, pc, consoles). Or similar experiences that have transferable years of experience
• 2+ years of experience shipping updates and new features to a user base on a regular cadence. Or similar experiences that have transferable years of experience
• Professional experience using Figma or Adobe Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator a plus), have engine experience (Custom engine, Unity, UE4, Lumberyard, Snowdrop, etc.), and an understanding of game industry 3D-package experience (3D Studio, Maya, etc.)
• You have an eye for pixel perfect UI, translating and spotting various potential issues with mockups as you help see the designs into the engine
• You are a logical problem solver who pays a lot of attention to detail and has excellent written and communication skills
• You can ''translate'' communication across departments (i.e talk to engineering about UI art needs, summarize technical issues, etc), but also have empathy for non technical team members and the ability to empower others on your team
This role is open to multiple locations in North America (excluding CA, NY, & WA).
