The Epic Trust and Safety team provides a safer experience for Epic users. We work across multiple products and services to improve technology and craft transparent policies so our players and users can have positive experiences on our platforms.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Investigator on our Trust and Safety team at Epic, you will be responsible for understanding how our gaming environment could be exploited, investigate complex cases, advance investigative methods, and use innovative research approaches to safeguard players and creators. The ideal candidate is an innovative self-starter, motivated by our mission, and results-driven.

In this role, you will
• Investigate and understand how abuse could manifest on Epic's platforms and the wider gaming ecosystem
• Lead investigative research, identify trends, understand behavior, and design forward-looking enforcement strategies to mitigate potential harm
• Proactively hunt for undetected suspected abuse by leveraging an array of resources
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to advance investigations, quantify trends, and support findings with clear, concise evidence
• Take a leadership role in suggesting, prototyping, and teaching novel investigative techniques and analytic methodologies
• Handle exposure to graphic and/or objectionable content

What we're looking for
• 5+ years of experience performing investigations in government, intelligence, cybersecurity, journalism, and/or private sector organizations
• Skilled at developing multi-source, evidence-based findings and communicating them to diverse audiences
• Proficient in open-source investigations to obtain publicly available information that might not be in plain sight
• Experience working on or managing projects with company-wide impact and/or multi-organization cross-functional stakeholders
• Ability to prioritize and execute with minimal direction or oversight
• Subject matter expertise or prior work experience with trust and safety challenges within a gaming company
• Experience conducting data analysis using SQL and Python
• Experience working under compressed timelines
• Experience working with a team spanning multiple locations/time zones
• Nice to have: MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Intelligence Studies, Cybersecurity, or a related field

This role is open to multiple locations (including CA & NYC).

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

New York City Base Pay Range

$162,390 — $238,172 USD

California Base Pay Range

$142,904 — $209,592 USD
