What We Do

Unreal projects have been leading the pack of real-time entertainment with our constantly growing team of engineering experts. We're always improving on the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.

What You'll Do

The Fortnite Tech-Server team is a centralized resource that is responsible for the player experience in Fortnite from a networking perspective. You will work directly with the Unreal Engine and Fortnite game teams to deliver new technologies and tools to empower a massive number of game experiences within Fortnite to run efficiently on our dedicated servers. Join us in continuing to make Fortnite one of the most popular and engaging gaming experiences in the world!

In this role, you will
• Establish clear technical targets for all Fortnite experiences, considering hardware availability and optimizing for value.
• Be a subject matter expert on dedicated server deployment, scaling, and debugging.
• Build the tools and processes required to enable game teams to achieve established technical targets and to operate and monitor dedicated servers in the live environment and respond to issues as they happen in the wild.
• Help determine appropriate cloud hardware, required server configs, CCU and capacity needs of different Fortnite experiences in conjunction with Fortnite game teams.
• Contribute innovative and original ideas towards aspects of the dedicated server platform.

What we're looking for
• Excellent C++ skills and software engineering principles.
• Experience developing in a large codebase, making trade-offs between usability, performance, and memory.
• Experience having worked on and shipped large game projects.
• Experience or interest in low level programming or debugging (kernel, user space drivers, networking stack, etc) on Linux.
• Experience in a cross-disciplinary development environment, with strong soft skills.

This role is open to multiple locations (including CA, NYC, and WA).
