Job Description
Epic Games is looking for Senior Environment Artists for our Cary, NC studio to build some of the best-looking environments and props for video games in the industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Exhibit good spatial skills, color theory, and technical expertise in architectural layout, lighting, scene composition, and environmental FX polish (bloom, color adjust, fog, etc.).
• Create modeling that can take a rudimentary or unfinished concept and understand the goals of the design, and model three-dimensional assets from it.
• Create solid, high-fidelity textures of any given surface.
• Demonstrate proficiency with both hard surface and organic modeling techniques.
• Create shaders for environment assets, volumetrics, decals, ambient effects, etc.
• Use diagnostic tools to examine the content and identify areas for improvement.
• Know when and where to cut and how to most effectively, optimize meshes and materials, without compromising visual quality.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
SPECIFIC SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years of experience as a 3D Artist or Environment Artist, or closely related position, in the video game industry and with all of the following:
• Using 3DS MAX or MAYA for 3D asset creation and refinement.
• Using Zbrush to sculpt and detail out high poly assets.
• Creating modular environment assets for 3D real-time levels and worlds.
• Using World class modeling skills, preferably in MAX or Maya.
• Texturing skills and experience with PBR & materials.
• Ability to take 2D concept art to completion.
• Experience with stylized art.
• Must have shipped at least three (3) AAA titles.
• Applicants must take and pass Epic's Environment Art Test.
• Applicants must submit a portfolio demonstrating good color theory and technical expertise in architectural layout, lighting, scene composition, and environmental FX polish (bloom, color adjust, fog); excellent composition and spatial skills; solid, high fidelity textures of any given surface; experience with PBR & materials; and proficiency with both hard surface and organic modeling techniques.
