As part of Epic, Harmonix is working to create and enable all types of interactive music experiences in Unreal Engine, Fortnite and beyond. Our ideal candidate will have a deep well of knowledge concerning game development, and also bring a passion for music and creative empowerment for both players and developers alike.

What You'll Do

Come be part of the excitement and energy to help build out a new game team in the Epic ecosystem! Harmonix is looking for experienced Gameplay Programmers to join a new and growing team. We believe that the best gameplay experiences are driven by collaboration and iteration between gameplay programmers, designers, and artists. You will play a critical role in driving future gameplay features.

In this role, you will
• Experiment with game design and use rapid prototyping while ensuring that strong architectural and algorithmic decisions are made
• Work closely with art and design to create and iterate on gameplay features
• Prototype and iterate on features and be willing to accept and respond to critical feedback
• Ensure high quality user experiences across all platforms we support
• Optimize and fix bugs in existing gameplay systems
• Contribute ideas towards all aspects of the game's production and development
• Write robust, maintainable code

What we're looking for
• Experience developing games professionally for 3+ years
• An analytical mind, with strong problem-solving skills
• Strong C++ skills and the ability to code and architect gameplay mechanics and tools
• Strong math skills
• Well versed in game's and the ability to articulate what is strong/weak about the designof existing games
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and able to work independently
• Experience with or desire to work in a live game environment
• Creativity in problem-solving and the ability to think outside of the established solutions
• Keen interest in music and music games
