What You'll Do

Epic is seeking a seasoned Lead FX Artist to spearhead creative endeavors for our collaboration with Disney. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of impactful visual effects and demonstrate proficiency in translating them into real-time environments using particle editors. As a key player in our team, you will balance collaborative teamwork with the ability to drive initiatives independently. If you have a strong sense of weight, timing, motion, and you demonstrate technical aptitude with Materials and Logic, we are ready for you to bring those abilities to execute outstanding FX in our games.

In this role, you will
• Lead the creation of exceptional effects, breathing life into dramatic visual experiences.
• Conceptualize, prototype, and finalize all aspects of FX art, from initial ideas to polished implementations
• Execute various visual effects styles, ranging from hyper-realistic to stylized

What we're looking for
• 2+ years of experience in a lead role, with demonstrated ability to manage or lead a team effectively
• A robust portfolio showcasing expertise in Real-Time FX work
• A discerning eye for the timing, animation, and motion of real-world elements, coupled with the ability to infuse dramatic flair into FX
• Proficiency in all aspects of FX art creation
• Proficiency in secondary areas such as modeling, skinning, animation, or lighting
• Prior experience shipping titles within the game industry
• Familiarity with the Unreal Engine 5 art pipeline
• Experience navigating memory limitations across multiple platforms
• Scripting experience in Blueprint, Python, etc

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

California Base Pay Range

$200,423 - $293,954 USD

Washington Base Pay Range

$191,313 - $280,592 USD
