TRUST AND SAFETY

What We Do

The Epic Trust and Safety team provides a safer experience for Epic users. We work across multiple products and services to improve technology and craft transparent policies so our players and users can have positive experiences on our platforms.

What You'll Do

We are looking for an experienced leader to head up the Policy function of the Trust and Safety team. This person will own internal and external policy development for our global moderation efforts across Epic products. You will draft, review, and secure executive alignment on internal and external policies for our enforcement and content moderation teams to apply effectively and equitably. Focusing on enforceability when developing policy is key! As a leader on the Trust and Safety team, you will be involved in all aspects of the team, including operations, Learning & Development, product development and investigations. This person must be an effective leader in the swift and effective resolution of sensitive, nuanced, and high-priority escalations originating from both internal and external stakeholders that sometimes include sensitive content. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with product, legal, public policy, and engineering teams, own individual policy projects, and contribute to long-term strategic initiatives aimed to keep Epic products welcoming for everyone.

In this role, you will
• Prioritize high-priority escalations or consultations, making sound, reasoned judgments even in high-visibility or urgent situations, and maintaining consistent and concise communication with relevant stakeholders
• Solve complex, nuanced policy challenges using research, industry standards, prior industry experience, and/or data where relevant
• Stay up-to-date on current and emerging policy trends, resources, and mitigations, especially within the gaming industry
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in trust and safety, legal, public policy, product, and engineering to gather and consolidate insights, input, and expertise into policy development or policy enforcement decisions. Partner with enablement to scale policies across the ecosystem
• Respectfully share opinions in a manner that respects past decisions and allows for new perspectives, and is inclusive of diverse viewpoints
• Become a trusted partner for Epic product teams and be an internal expert for products across our ecosystem, such as individual games or specific policies
• Engage in a collaborative, supportive, and fun work environment that values open and direct communication and knowledge sharing
• Hire a team and build out the Policy function

What we're looking for
• 10+ years of experience working in Trust & Safety, with the majority of that experience in Policy roles
• Experience developing policy for products with user generated content and 100M+ users; experience in gaming a plus
• Self-motivated and able to independently drive results
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations, while demonstrating composure and flexibility
• Someone who has a strong bias for action and is always driving improvements and optimization in teams, tools, processes and policies
• A great team leader who hires and develops the best
• Able to work in a dynamic environment and successfully manage multiple concurrent projects

This role is open to multiple locations (including CA, NYC, & WA).
