What We Do
Driving the plug-in power behind Unreal Engine 5. We bridge connections for licensees and our own internal game teams to online services. This allows games like Fortnite to utilize a combination of platform online services as well as Epic's own online services to build cross-platform online features. Login, parties, voice chat, matchmaking, purchasing, cloud storage, and analytics are just a few examples of online features that our Online Game Services team helps games utilize.
What You'll Do
Epic Games is looking for a Director of Safety Platform Engineering to manage our engineering efforts for trust & safety. You will focus on leading a team of engineers that develops and operates the safety platforms utilized across Epic to moderate user-generated content and keep our users safe. This is an incredible opportunity to create a fun and secure environment for millions of players and positively impact the entire Epic ecosystem.
In this role, you will
• Lead a team of full-time employees and contract engineers distributed across North America & Europe on a variety of security and safety services
• Collaborate with various stakeholders and teams to collect requirements, implement safety and security solutions, and respond to emergent situations
• Deliver strategy & results, maintain team health, manage performance, and develop the team members
• Facilitate design and code reviews, and promote a culture of building high-quality products with clear, concise, and well-tested code
• Interface directly with company leadership to solve escalations and drive successful conclusions
• Operate in a high-pressure, fast-moving, collaborative environment
What we're looking for
• Experience leading and growing engineering teams
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and design patterns
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Experience implementing large-scale product security, moderation, or abuse prevention systems is required
• Must be user-focused, passionate, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do.
• BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience
