Detroit - PT Tech Reporter / WWJ-AM

WWJ 950 Newsradio is looking for a tech reporter to join our award winning news team and help increase listenership. We are looking for a person who is aware of, and follows, current events in order to bring those stories to listeners. This reporter will be responsible for collecting, assembling, and recording stories that will air each day of the week. This reporter should have the ability to come up with stories from the tech industry, gaming, etc. and be able to deliver reports with the listener in mind.

Requirements: Must have experience in broadcast journalism that is focused on tech stories, have experience with audio players to edit and record reports and be able to deliver the story in a compelling way. There will be a minimum of two reports per weekday, and this reporter will have to make themselves available for live reports when there is breaking news. This position will be part time with an average of 10 - 15 hours per week.

We are looking for a passionate Reporter to participate in the creative cycle of a news story by investigating and writing rich and unbiased ''scoops''.
- collect, verify, and analyze thoroughly newsworthy info
- assemble findings into a stable story
- write and deliver news stories with the reader's perspective in mind
- publish or broadcast news stories
- receive assignments or investigate news leads/tips
- abide by journalism's ethics and codes
- contact, interview, and research sources
- stay up-to-date with the latest current events in the ''beat'' by studying papers, attending events, etc.

Qualifications:

Required:
-proven working experience as a reporter
- portfolio of published articles or newscasts
-abililty to gather, write, and edit news
- broad knowledge of headlines
- computer proficiency: MS Office, digital editing, web search, databases
- excellent communication, lobbying, and active listening skills
- BS degree in journalism or mass communications
- a valid driver's license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, proof of insurance is required
