Content Producer (WBBM- Chicago)
WBBM in Chicago is going through an exciting transformation of its digital news operation and is seeking talented digital journalists with a passion for local news to grow its digital audience. This is a unique opportunity to join an award-winning news operation that has built a large loyal listening audience over many years and now seeks to extend its reach by creating and distributing an array of fresh digital content.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor and write articles around breaking and trending local news in Chicago, working closely with the team's two other content producers
• Publish articles, audio stories, podcasts and short videos on all digital platforms
• Write headlines and text to position content for maximum engagement on the mobile web, apps, and social media
• Ensure all daily content is optimized for SEO
• Develop story ideas, series, and special projects that complement broadcast news coverage
• Collaborate with broadcast staff to adapt and tailor stories and other content for digital that the team believes will perform well
• Use real-time analytics in Google Analytics and Chartbeat to drive editorial/story decisions
Qualifications:
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
• 2+ years of experience producing, editing, and distributing digital news and digital audio content • Outstanding news judgment and ability to work under deadline pressure
• Experience with publishing in Content Management Systems
• Creative thinking when it comes to brainstorming how to transform a piece of audio into a compelling digital article
• Strong journalistic writing skills, story development, and editorial judgment
• Command of best practices on all social media platforms
• Experience with Adobe Audition, or similar audio editing program is a plus Candidates will be asked to submit writing samples.
