JOB DESCRIPTION

IMG Academy is seeking a VP, Communications. The VP will plan, coordinate and execute communications activities for IMG Academy, the world-renowned sport training and educational institution. Manage brand messaging and positioning, internal communications, crisis communications, and community relations, while creating a steady source of positive news surrounding IMG Academy, its athletes, alumni, college recruiting platform NCSA, events, and partners.

Position Responsibilities
• Oversees brand positioning and messaging in association with the Marketing department
• Creates and maintains relationships with news directors, editors, writers, reporters, photojournalists, video crews, bloggers, and other members of the media
• Pursues positive press around the business, campus, athletes, and partnerships
• Manages internal communications, liaising with senior leadership and HR to maintain an effective strategy
• Manages crisis communications
• Provides strategic communications counsel to senior leadership
• Works with senior leadership to grow and maintain role in the community
• Builds and strengthens relationships with other key internal service functions (HR, Finance, Legal etc.) to ensure efforts are aligned and supportive
• Crafts key messages, statements, media alerts, and news releases as needed
• Assists the marketing department in creating an impact through storytelling across all of IMG's digital and social media platforms and channels
• Planning and executing press and community events including but not limited to: press conferences, ribbon cuttings, and college signing ceremonies
• Liaises with IMG's sponsors to share content, contacts, and ideas
• Provides strategic direction of video production efforts and liaises with marketing to optimize use of video across all channels
• Prepares and regularly distributes internal newsletters highlighting media coverage or other key initiatives
• As a member of the broader, centralized Endeavor Communications team, collaborates on opportunities to both support the parent brand and leverage it to elevate the profile of IMG Academy

Experience
• 8+ years communications and managerial experience required
• Knowledge, experience and passion for sports; working experience in sports preferred
• Strong writing background
• Demonstrated experience with digital/social content at a professional level
• Comfort with using Cision or similar media database for creating media lists, tracking and analyzing media
• A degree in journalism, PR, marketing or a relevant arts and humanities subject preferred
