Main Purpose of Job

The Event Accountant will be a finance contact on the Miami Open and Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic.

The candidate must have a proactive and adaptive approach to work as well as a willingness and interest in understanding the nature of the business and the many factors affecting it.

Reports To

Finance Director – Tennis Events

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
• Assume position as finance contact on the following events: Miami Open and the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic.
• The role will support the Finance Director:
• Business Partner with the Event Directors and Ops team to support on event finances
• Work with the Finance Director to support the VP of each of these events to ensure they have clear and concise information for decision making
• Ensure all revenue planning and ops budgets are up to date and reconcilable - working with the business teams to do so, allowing for accurate pre and post-show flashes and timely close out of event finances
• Ensure applicable taxes are accounted for appropriately by checking treatment with internal tax team, as well as 1099 / 1042 tax form review
• Own the bottom-up detailed business planning and cash flow planning
• Own the purchase order system and application of the PO system
• Work with Finance Director around Risks and Opps and flag as necessary
• Own the issuance of invoices outside of CRM
• Processing of incoming payments for checks and credit cards
• Ensure the Finance Director is fully informed of all necessary items
• Work with Finance Director to:
• Ensure the month end P&L and BS reflects the reality of the current view
• Oversight of prize money entry and reconciliation
• Provide commentary to any variance to plan
• Ensure weekly cash flow requests are accurate and complete
• Weekly and ad hoc sales reports are accurate and complete
• Assistance with external audits
• Assistance with daily tournament revenue reporting

Unusual Challenges or Circumstances e.g. shift(s)/ unsocial hours/ travel etc
• Will be required to work occasionally outside of standard working hours or at weekends at events

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge and Experience

Mandatory
• Strong IT skills (especially Microsoft Office)
• Strong accounting knowledge
• Excellent communication skills
• Process orientated and able to manage and reconcile large data sets
• Flexibility

Desirable
• Event experience
• SAP accounting software

Skills and Abilities

Mandatory
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent planning & organisational skills to achieve multiple & sometimes conflicting deadlines

Qualifications and Training

Mandatory
• 0 - 1 years PQE – ACA / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent or qualified by experience

• Educated to a degree or equivalent level

• Strong focus on seeking efficiencies with attention to detail
• Ability to work proactively and individually but also as a team player
