What You'll Do:

The Data Engineer role sits within the Engineering team of the Data Services department responsible for all data applications across the company's divisions globally from Big Data, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Analytics and Data Science.
• Develop and optimise large-scale data pipelines that ingest data from a variety of sources
• Work in a dynamic and exciting agile team with a highly skilled team of Data Engineers from other disciplines to design and develop innovative data-driven solutions
• Comfortable with designing and building data pipelines and have a solid appreciation for how all phases of the data lifecycle from ingestion, to cleansing, transforming and analysing fit together
• Design and implement data models to support the data product and ensure scalability/performance Working on multiple greenfield projects supporting internal business units and external clients
• Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data across the data pipeline
• Bring positive innovative ideas that lead to innovative solutions rather than a lift-and-shift mentality
• Constantly stay up to date on new technologies in the data space and where they may fit our initiatives
• Strive for high quality and rapid output through the use of data engineering/warehousing best practices and collaborative sessions (code reviews, whiteboarding, etc.)
• Create and maintain architecture and systems documentation
• Collaborate with Data Analysts to drive efficiencies for their work

Additional Responsibilities and Duties when necessary
• Take part in infrastructure and development related workshops and meetings
• Available to work outside of normal business hours and weekends when required

You Have These:
• Exposure to, and ideally experience with, modern data architectures (e.g. data lake, lake house, data mesh) and accompanying technologies (e.g. Azure Synapse, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift)
• Awareness of data governance and all surrounding legislation
• Interest in security and how to handle PII data
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to identify software bugs and work with the team to develop solutions
• Stay up to date with wider industry direction and evaluate the benefit of new technologies
• Ability to maintain delivery momentum

We'd Love If You Also Have These:
• Highly proficient in SQL
• Experience using Python based ETL tools such as Databricks
• Experience using Data Ingestion tools such as FiveTran or Stitch
• Experience using Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Looker or Tableau
• Experience with data pipeline tools such as DBT, Airflow or Luigi are a plus!
• Experience using cloud environments e.g. Azure or AWS
• Understanding of the Agile delivery method

Working Conditions:
• Permanent, London Chiswick Park
• Working hours are: 9am-5pm
• Working days are: Mon-Fri
