Assistant, Brand Communications

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Communications Assistant supports the Lifestyle and Entertainment brands' communications teams across all functions to help ensure the smooth running of the teams' press announcements, media appearances, and events. The Communications Assistant works closely with the communications brand leads to support their daily PR operations, including tracking press coverage for brands, creating and updating media lists, assisting with research for media appearances and speaking engagements, as well as product and visuals collection for broadcast segments.

II. Essential Job Functions|Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

Weight % - Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

55% - Working closely with the team's brand leads to track press coverage; assist in the creation of media reports; create and update media lists; assist with communications materials distribution and press outreach; monitor consumer and trade media across broadcast, digital, print and social for relevant reporting on our industry and what's happening within the brands' competitive landscape.

30% - Assisting with media appearances, which includes calling in products, securing video, visuals, doing research, creating itineraries, and booking transportation and other logistical elements. Support PR at events, including maintaining guest lists and handling press check-in.

15% - Participating in brainstorms and ideation for PR strategy and tactics. Assist team members in drafting communications materials, as well as review and edit copy.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent Communications experience.

Experience: Entry level, 0-2 years experience

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in gaining a deep understanding of the media landscape, effective media relations practices and identifying what makes news and why.
• Knowledge of lifestyle media in areas of lifestyle, celebrity, style, home, decor, food, entertaining, and pop culture.
• Highly organized and strong ability to take direction for multiple stakeholders.
• Comfortable working both independently of others and as a team player
• Strong knowledge of social media
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities, working under tight deadlines
• Strong knowledge of software including Excel, Word, etc.
• Self-motivated, solution-oriented, and creative with an ability to think outside the box

% Travel Required (Approximate):15%

Pay Range
Hourly: $21.15 - $26.44
