Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer for Connected Devices, you will help us push the boundaries of what is possible on some of the most interesting 10-foot devices in the marketplace. You'll work on a team of other client developers alongside systems, services engineers, and project managers.

We're looking for someone that is proficient at writing highly optimized JavaScript (ES5 & ES6) with a low memory footprint, appreciates the details that make the development lifecycle exceptional, and demonstrates enthusiasm for new technologies, languages, frameworks, and platforms.

This opening is for senior software engineers working in one of our Bay Area or NYC office locations or those interested in working remote.

Work on a modern stack consisting of JavaScript (ES5/ES6) and React.js across a wide range of devices from low memory and low performant set top boxes to top of the line smart TV's.
• Rapidly prototype and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable smart TV and device applications using client-side Javascript (ES5/ES6).
• Enforce code quality through test driven development.
• Collaborate closely with other engineering, product, and marketing teams to help define product requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

Senior level candidates should have:
• 5 or more years of experience building compelling web applications.
• Strong experience in JavaScript (ES5 & ES6) app development, both with and without third party frameworks.
• Experience with and ability to communicate multiple different software architectures (MVC, MVVM, Redux, etc.) and application design patterns.
• Ability to quickly analyze and understand the performance impacts of code and data structures in order to deliver highly optimized code on constrained hardware.
• Experience mentoring junior level team members.

Recommended Qualifications:
• Experience building JavaScript or native apps for Smart TV's such as Samsung Orsay and Tizen, LG Netcast and WebOS, Sony, Panasonic, TiVo, Vizio, and various set-top boxes or blu-ray players.
• WebGL or Canvas.
• Google Chromecast.
• JavaScript DevOps tooling and test frameworks including Gulp, WebPack, Jenkins, Mocha, and PhantomJS.
• React.js experience a plus.
• HTML5 video including MSE and EME.
• Video streaming technologies including HLS and DRM.
• C/C++ experience, specifically on connected device hardware a plus.
