Disney's Advertising Sales Research team is seeking talented people to help create the future of Television and lead the advertising industry into the future.
The Disney Ad Sales Research team delivers actionable insights to drive ad sales revenue. This department supports the entire Disney media portfolio including Disney, Hulu, ABC, ESPN, FX, Nat Geo and Freeform, as well as the entire ad sales organization.
Our goal is to remain on the cutting edge of cross-platform research by turning data into insights and managing research ranging from audience insights and positioning, to planning and measuring against brand KPIs. We leverage expertise in media, qualitative and quantitative methodologies and data analysis to help shape research design and share actionable findings.
Job Summary:
The Senior Manager, Audience Advancement will lead and support the team in reach & frequency planning and measurement solutions. This person will help to both manage a team leading in-market solutions as well as pioneer future Disney partnerships in this area of expertise. The Senior Manager will also be focused on supporting strategies and industry initiatives to inform potential currency solutions.
The successful candidate will work directly with the sales team, internal teams, and our research vendors to find and build solutions to measure consumption of brands under the Disney umbrella (Hulu, ABC, ESPN, FX, Freeform, National Geographic and more) across the digital ecosphere. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you will develop, drive, and oversee new strategies to ensure the growth of the research ad measurement strategy and the overall bottom line.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
% of Time
Internal Advancement & Testing Work: 40%
• Serve as an expert for the Ad Sales team in audience measurement, emerging methodologies, data flows (pixel, ad log, clean room), currency solutions across media types and platforms
• Build, grow and manage new and existing partnerships with 3rd party measurement vendors
• Develop testing opportunities and strategic framework for emerging solutions in partnership with Director and cross-functional support teams inclusive of Data Science, Advanced Ops, Ad Platform, Sales Enablement and Legal
Client Facing Strategic Consulting & Presenting Measurement work: 30%
• Lead a small team of analysts/senior analysts on providing guidance for ad sales on reach and frequency measurement solutions
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of current and potential client's research and measurement goals, navigate the process from consultation, to feasibility, to the development and presentation of the analysis
• Create, ideate, develop the workflow, process, and go to market materials showcasing the power of Disney's measurement capabilities
Improve Workflow, Enable New Solutions and Scalability: 30%
• Work cross functionally to improve operations and scalability of measurement and planning solutions. Includes improving data flows, enabling new dashboard solutions, understanding methodology enhancements, and managing & communicating internally.
• Execute internal tests on alternative measurement and planning tools to understand marketplace offerings, build internal POV and inform strategic roadmap. Use understandings of gaps in measurement to work cross functionally to solve for these challenges.
• Work with internal stakeholders to assess future opportunities and areas of collaboration
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:
• Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year university in Advertising, Media, Marketing, Market Research, Data Analytics, Statistics or Social Science that requires strong research and Data skills (Economics, Political Science, Sociology etc).
• 7+ years media and advertising research experience, including television and online, media, marketing, and strategy preferred
• 5+ years in research measurement solutions and managing vendor relationships
• Experience managing a team
• Experience with, and a strong understanding of methodology, ad campaign data flows (pixel, ad log, clean room), and 3rd party reach measurement solutions
• Experience with ad technologies and how they are evolving in a potential cookieless media ecosystem
• Experience with independently managing and implementing research and measurement solutions
• Must have a comprehensive understanding of the media business, with an emphasis on the streaming TV landscape.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders (ability to prioritize when presented with conflicting business needs), and across multiple teams (ability to move projects to completion when contingent on other teams)
• Innovative thinker capable of operating both in a strategic capacity (big-picture perspective, asks ''why'') and a hands-on/execution capacity (detail-oriented, conscientious)
• Proven ability to collaborate, build consensus and navigate complex environments and changing business needs
• Strong strategic mindset with the ability to see ahead to future possibilities outside current norms and translate them into tangible opportunities and projects
• Evaluate external vendor, data, and technology solutions, and provide perspective on build vs buy options for the business
• Provide leadership and consulting to colleagues across internal functions to educate, consult and knowledge share
• Must have excellent presentation building and writing skills.

The hiring range for this position in New York is $148,140 - $181,060 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
