Content Operations is ultimately responsible for successfully delivering entertainment and sports content to millions of people every day. This involves developing, operating, and leading a global content supply chain – the myriad of steps involved from taking a finalized TV show/movie, or live piece of content, from inside Disney to audiences around the globe, in their preferred language and format. This team also leads technology operations in Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Job Summary:

Imagine yourself as a Senior Data Governance Analyst, helping govern and protect the data that empowers DE&E Technology to efficiently deliver and manage your favorite Disney shows, movies, music, and more.

You will cultivate your natural passion for data governance and collaboration to chart a bold, rational, well-governed data future for our content supply chain. You will improve the working lives of people who help plan, manage, and deliver beloved media by helping establish data standards, guide data stewardship, and implement ontologies. You will use your in-depth knowledge and experience in data quality, governance, and data management to succeed in this role, as well as your grit, passion, and verve for well-governed data.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
• Tackle and analyze complex data problems in the supply chain, discovering and articulating the root cause. Identify and propose solutions, write data policies and standards as needed, and work to implement solutions that improve our data landscape.
• Review proposed schema changes against internal and external data standards, including our supply chain ontology and other data model guidance, helping ensure that this complex landscape of data sources is consistent and reliable. This will include new and incremental schema designs, as well as contributions to a federated graph. Review and identify taxonomy and reference data standards.
• Work with data governance leadership to solve complex data standards, quality, and other data governance problems; use sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions, in combination with communication skills that drive collaboration and compromise.
• Lead and guide data governance councils and working bodies. Communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view. Present on data governance initiatives and concepts to a variety of audiences.
• Execute against data governance strategy, contributing to the roadmap; lead specific initiatives in alignment with overall data governance strategy and objectives. Help develop product management materials and viewpoints about data as a product.
• Work largely under your own autonomy and drive but supported by and accountable to data governance leadership.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in data and metadata standards, data governance, or related fields

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Experience executing data governance, best practice processes, or metadata governance
• Data Governance. Knowledgeable about data standards, taxonomies, ontologies, schema design, metadata best practices, data governance best practices, processes, and tooling. Passionate about data and how quality, secure, well-governed data impacts relevant lines of business. Familiarity with data governance tooling including taxonomy management or reference data systems; data catalogs; and MDM systems and frameworks.
• Stakeholder management and communication skills. Has strong skills in communication, stakeholder relationship cultivation, and coalition building. Able to help gather requirements and stakeholder and user input. Strong presentation skills. Experience working on data initiatives across teams, coordinating stakeholders and team members. Communicates effectively across teams, conveying complex data, workflow, and business concepts in a manner appropriate to the audience. Presentations and materials are focused on influencing an audience and includes a proficient use of data when applicable.
• Data Documentation, Review and Cataloging. Experience helping document and understand data structures and meaning, in alignment with best practices, standards, and other data use cases. Lead the review of proposed new or altered data structures in schema documents, API merge requests, and data catalog documentation; able to offer clearly explained feedback. Able to help configure and maintain the data catalog, tailoring it to user needs.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
• Relevant degree or certification in library and information science, computer science, or data science
• Experience leading data governance councils and working bodies.
• Content Supply Chain Knowledge. Familiar with the Content Supply Chain and its core concepts, workflows, business impacts, and major issues. Comfortable with the intersection of workflows and data, and what data means to the business. Knowledgeable on relevant industry data standards and best practices. Able to work with range of content supply chain data stakeholders to help understand and solve their problems and build network of data stewards.
• Data as a Product. Viewpoint of thinking about data as a product and product management skills including the ability to produce product requirements documents, user flows, personas, KPIs, and other product materials and efforts.

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA and Bristol, CT is $112,600-$151,100 per year, and in New York City, NY $118,000-$158,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
